White Dog has a treasured collection of toys that she has accumulated since puppyhood. She treats them with kindness and gentle care and in fact, even will return them to the toy box after use (if she is in the mood, she IS a diva, after all)! YoYoMa and Puff have added their own gifted and hard won stuffies to the group. They are not as gentle.

Puff enjoys nothing better than eviscerating the stuffed toy to remove the squeaker and then deliberately eats the arms and legs and noses off of the creature. Yo is daintier and does not have quite the lustiness in his "killing" technique yet enjoys pulling out all of the stuffing. When he chooses to be destructive he nibbles like one would eat an ear of corn.

Equally often YoYoMa just carries his stuffies around, slobbering all over them. He takes them outside (yes, he is a bit of an exhibitionist when it comes to pottying...he likes stuffies to watch), and then he forgets them out in the dirt.

This toy abuse distresses White Dog who came to me yesterday, after watching Michael carry in an armful of scummy looking toys found in the yard, and requested that they all be given baths. "I can't even think of putting one of these in mouth," she grimaced as Puff grabbed the dirtiest beast from Michael's hands and carried it off.

So we washed the toys. No one seemed happy about it but White Dog. When Steve brought them in from where they had been drying on the deck all afternoon, YoYoMa took Jack and softly set it next to the sleeping Quinn. Then he took blue bone and ran outside.

Variety in life, even in how we treat our stuffies, is what makes life and us so interesting.

LOL. I just had to smile reading about the WDA when there were terms like "lustiness" on the post.

I also like how WDA is such a tidy little angel.

I remember one of our favorite turtles being devoured of its squeaker as well.

Wow, wish that was the way it was over here. Toys live maybe 5 minutes here.
