White Dog and the rest of the White Dog Army was up before dawn and pacing. It was still too early but the helicopters were already circling and traffic was heavy despite the hour.

The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta began this weekend and for the next week our city turns into an amazing skybound wonder for those willing to get up before dawn. By 10am the fun is over until the evening glows and fireworks. Dogs across ABQ hate this time of year because to hot air balloons driven by the propane flames emit noises that humans miss but which torture pups.

But they are beautiful and we host the largest such assembly in the world. Here's a peek at what you're missing:

I go nutz when I see ONE balloon gliding across my sky. Not sure I could be responsible with so many flying about. But beauty really prevails! So sorry it drives the pups crazy, seems like most man-made events get dogs all keyed up. I guess they just want a little peace and quiet. How are the sick pups doing? All better, I hope.

cheers and hugs,

Jo, Stella and Zkhat

We love seeing balloons like that from a distance but we don't like the noise when they get close either!
