White Dog sat with me. In fact just about the entire White Dog Army was crowded into the room with us. Waiting.

"So," WD asked. "how do we follow up a milestone like yesterday? Somehow 3501 seems like an afterthought."

"Little White Dog of My Heart, ALL the White Dogs of My Heart of ALL shades, today is just today, like all of the other days that added up to that impressive number. We keep telling our story and sharing our journey."

"But today was REALLY boring," WD complained. "That happens some days in life," I reminded. "And besides, today had its moments." "LIKE?"

"Like Dad's special Fat Tuesday trip to the doughnut shoppe to buy plain doughnuts so that he could come home and warm them up before shaking them in sugar and cinnamon. It was a sweet reminder of one of my fondest childhood memories." "They were yummy, too!" YoYoMa cut in.

"Like the beautiful nap that Puff and Taiko shared side-by-side. Tai is not a cuddler but he seemed to need a friend when he crashed down next to Puff on her mattress; she did not even seem to mind that he ended up hogging nearly the entire bed." "I WAS pretty amazed at both of them," WD agreed. "They looked so peaceful together."

"Like Zsofia sitting in a sit--leave it long enough for Yo to enjoy his coffee without her pushing her way under him and getting a head full of coffee. She worked VERY hard to follow that command. I was proud of her." "Sure, but the second you released her, she plunged her nose into the mug," Bella pointed out. "Yes, but she did what I asked; that is a huge sign she is growing up."

"Like you, Bella, becoming brave enough to go calling at the Studio and to ask Candace for treats when she answers the door." My Little Bee looked a bit guilty. "It is not about the treats but about your becoming more daring and independent."

"It is all little stuff," White Dog mewled quietly. "Nothing exciting."

"Let me share from Laura Ingalls Wilder, who wrote in her Writings to Young Women from Laura Ingalls Wilder - Volume One: On Wisdom and Virtues:

“As the years pass, I am coming more and more to understand that it is the common, everyday blessings of our common everyday lives for which we should be particularly grateful. They are the things that fill our lives with comfort and our hearts with gladness -- just the pure air to breathe and the strength to breath it; just warmth and shelter and home folks; just plain food that gives us strength; the bright sunshine on a cold day; and a cool breeze when the day is warm.”

"OK," WD conceded, "I get it. so on to 3502 tomorrow, right?"
