White Dog went out to inspect the work of Candace, Zsofia, Skye, Daisy, and Storm. Taiko walked along at her side. The straw bales were finally ready and the farm team planted six tomato plants, four pepper plants, a blueberry bush into the now rich planting medium. There are already lettuces and cabbage happily getting fat in the vertical planter..

A lilac bush, squash, zucchini, green beans, cucumber, cantaloupe and watermelon need a bit more nurturing before those seedlings will be ready to go into the ground. Our recent cold spell has slowed growth in general. Candace also plans to put onions in a bed outside of the dog area and is working on building a second vertical planter just for herbs.

White Dog walked slowly around the garden. She sniffed. She looked at each of those with a green paw...then slowly nodded her approval. All beamed and wagged. 

YoYoMa, sitting next to me in the bedroom watching from the window, turned and asked, "How soon do you think it will be before we can eat these yummy veggies?"  "A couple weeks for some, maybe a month," I answered. Yo looked a bit crestfallen..."I was kind of hoping you would say dinner tonight."
