White Dog put her paw on my arm. "Don't fret so, momma," she said. "You humans are too much driven by the whip of the calendar and the clock." "It is not that I forgot, Sweet Girl," I told her. "It is just that things took a different turn and then there are dad's ate nights to contend with..." "Momma," she spoke a bit more firmly, "let's focus on the celebration; love isn't gone when the calendar page turns."
I love the Little White Dog of My Heart, she often brings me back and grounds me in the fact that it is sometimes OK not to create the perfect world. And that my family understands.
Sunday was YoYoMa's 11th Birthday. It was also Bella's 2nd Gotcha Day Anniversary.
Sunday got away from us. Monday and Tuesday are late nights at school for Steve.
I held YoYo's face in my hands and kissed his nose. "Can we have your party on Wednesday?" I asked. "Dad has the entire day off and Candace will be home. We will all be together." My boy kissed my hands and smiled that tilted head squinty eyed smile that melts my heart every time.
Bella rested in my arms like a precious Arctic Fox. "And you, my Constant Companion? Will you be all right if we celebrate you and Yo and another very special event all together?" Her ears perked up, so did White Dogs and the rest of the White Dog Army's.
"Wednesday is Blog for Peace Day; the whole world will be joined together in energy and on blogs to ask for the Universe to grant us peace."
Bella thought for a moment and I was afraid she was offended by having to share her day. Not the case. "Yes, momma," she replied enthusiastically. "YoYoMa and I want to celebrate with the world and our family."
"Good, good, good," WD told then as she hustled them out of the room. "See? I told you! Now we better get planning! Lots of Autumn foods, Welsh rarebit, maybe chicken stew with dumplings...Yo LOVES your cranberry dumplings...and German music so Bella can dance...oh, and for dessert apple strudel with ice cream and cinnamon sauce...and let's ask Yo to do his comedy routine. Maybe we can even get Puff to do her impersonations of bossy crabby females throughout history, that always cracks me up."
"Remember, we will also need time to create a special peace blog," I told her. "The WDA and I have already been thinking about that; we have some great ideas.
