White Dog is an old hand but for some of the White Dog Army, the popularity of our part of town sometimes overwhelms.
Our city's Twinkle Light Parade is one of the biggest holiday draws and takes place on the famous Route 66 which runs just half a block from our home. We can see the street's activity from our sun porch windows. There are several events like this across the year on this path and all bring thousands of people from all over, generate lots of noise, and leave the White Dog Army wondering about humans and their crazy rituals.
The actual city event is secondary to the parade past our windows for nearly two hours before the show. People park their cars in the neighborhoods and walk over to the parade route carrying chairs, tents, coolers, and babies. It is a festive and rowdy group...and the stream sends the White Dog Army into red alert.
The older members sigh and move to the back of the house where it is usually quieter but tonight there is parade viewing party going on next door on the roof deck...loud enough to be heard in the bedroom. Sigh.
The WDA lines the windows up front to view the pre-parade parade. Their commentary is amusing at times and a bit obsessive at others. "Face it, Pearl, they are NOT going to get off your block just because you are yelling at them," WD tells her but then shrugs and joins her sister's yips.
I turn to Steve, "about 20 minutes before the parade starts," I tell him,"foot traffic should stop. And by the time it is all over, the blinds will be drawn." "Thank dog," was his response over the din.

Whoa, that sounds like an awful lot of excitement. We don't blame you, WDA, for getting a little worked up!
