White Dog had to wake Bailey. "Come on Bai, dad is home to take you to see Dr. Julia. You are the first White Dog wellness check of the new year" Bailey yawned, stretched her full length, and slowly climber to her feet. When she heard Steve whistle and say, "Hey Bailey want to go for a ride?" she picked up her pace toward the door.

Dr. Julia's office was slammed and there was a bit of a wait. Steve answered work emails and Bai nervously paced...not
Our vet came in and apologized for the lateness. Bailey sat on the exam table as Dr. Julia checked her eyes, her teeth, and her ears then squeezed around to determine muscle mass. Everything was in fine shape including her teeth BUT her weight of 63 pounds made the vet suck in her breath.

"A lot less counter surfing, Lady," Dr. Julia told Bailey who stood like she did not comprehend. "You have gained SEVEN pounds this year." She looked at Steve, "use a lighter hand when measuring out dinner."
Then it was time for shots. "Rabies is all you need," the vet told Bailey and gently slid the needle into fur. Bailey did not even flinch. "Good Girl!" said Dr. Julia as she automatically reached into the treat jar...then laughed at herself. "Here I am after JUST telling you to cut down." She gave Bailey the treat and said, "that is one less later on." Bai thanked her by licking the good doctor's hand.
"One done, seven more to go," Steve laughed as he prepared to leave. Dr. Julia put her hand on his arm, "pace yourself and let us both hope that ALL I see them for is for Wellness Exams."
