White Dog wished her sisters good luck and then scurried back to her bedroom suite. Pearl sounded a greeting at the Watching Window and Opal met their special vet at the door.

Pearl gets violently sick on car rides and the nervous tension of a waiting room sends Opal looking for a place to hide so mobile vet, Dr. Lauryn Spohn, comes to the house to attend to them. Both of our gems are surprisingly calm in this setting as the vet and her nurse set up an exam area using the sofa and ottoman.
Pearl went first and was checked out head to feet. During nail trimming, we discovered that Pearl had dew claws hidden in her feathers on her back legs and that they were quite long. Quick steady snips and the danger of becoming ingrown was gone. She wasted no time jumping down when the exam was complete but she did manage a wag from her chair...once she finished her treat.
Opal has hypothyroidism and needed to have blood drawn. She looked around wildly and escaped to the bedroom but she quieted when Steve held her during the process. The results will tell us if her medication dosage is on target or needs adjusting. Dr. Spohn looked at Opal's rear right foot where she torn off her toenail last weekend. It was healing well and responding to the salve we were using that Opal was allowed to go without bandaging (which was probably a good thing as she would have chewed it off in five seconds).

Just before end of day, the clinic got back to us that Opal's numbers were down slightly but still outside the normal range. We slightly increased her thyroid medication and will retest in 8 weeks. All else was good. Shots for both ladies current. And both were considered in excellent health.

White Dog called for a round of jerky to celebrate.
