White Dog sat with Zsofia and I this morning. WD looked at Zso. "I am going to need some help while I am recovering," she told our Darkest White Dog. "This will be an excellent chance to develop and practice important leadership skills that you will need in the future when it is your time to be Queen."
"Don't worry," Zsofia told her sister, "I will keep everyone in line and they will follow my commands." White Dog gently laid her head against Zso. "Sister, you have the wrong idea," WD whispered. "You want the Army to follow you because they love and respect you; it is not about keeping them locked under your paw or quivering under threats. Those wiser than me have said that the best leader puts her subjects first, approaches every problem with hope and positivity, and trusts those under her."
"And if they don't listen, then BAM! Remind them I am in charge, right? My way or the highway."
"Itty Bitty Baby Girl if you must puff your chest out and announce you are the Boss, you have already lost. A good leader leads by example. Do the right thing and the others will follow you. Every pup in our family is loving and giving and wants to do the right thing. They will with love, compliments, and a soft gentle reminder. I know you have this in you. And I am going to be moving slowly and experiencing some pain until this pancreatitis clears up. The meds make me sleep a lot. You do not have to be on constant alert. Just take time with each and say something nice; and don't forget to be kind to yourself. Leaders need to breathe, too. I am not going anywhere and if you need help momma is a good resource or come sit on my bed and ask me. I would not ask if I did not think you ready."
I squeezed Zsofia's paw. "That is very high praise from the wise and generous White Dog. Be what she sees in you."

We're purring and praying for your recovery, White Dog. And Zsofia, your sister is super wise. We know you can be the leader she envisions you as. XO
