White Dog dutifully ate breakfast and dinner without enthusiasm but minded my warning that she was already too thin and could not afford to LOSE any weight. With the encouragement of the entire family gathered around her, she swallowed first her pain medications and then her baby food mixture before resting quietly under a blanket.

Steve and I had a late dinner. As we prepared a quick salad and gyros Steve moved White Dog up to where he sits on the couch with a tray. "I know you probably won't want any," he told her, "but I know gyros is one of your favorite foods and this meat has a particularly good fragrance. Maybe you might enjoy some long deep breaths."

White Dog did him one better than vicariously enjoying the treat...she rolled over on her back like a puppy and paddled the air to indicate she wanted to be fed bites. "Wow," Steve said to me as he fell under her spell, "I don't remember her being this excited about any food for a long time."

She happily gobbled down nibbles of meat and bread like Cleopatra being fed by servants. The others complained wanting to know where their shares were.

"Hush," I told them. "You will get the benefit of eating WD's portion of ice cream because we do not want to overdo her unbalanced system. NO PUP is going to be neglected."
