The White Dog Army was happy to see Deb this afternoon. She stopped by with treats and to meet Diva. Everyone practiced safety but loved hearing our friend's laugh and saw her twinkling eyes in person. She stayed only a short time so she would be home for her pups before dark and the onslaught of fireworks the marks NYE here.

We snuggled into the bedroom, the most secluded part of the house, for an evening designed to allow us to cocoon in sanctuary, away from the world and its noises. We stocked in noshes, finger food dinner, and a music playlist to take us well past the midnight hour.

Just as we settled in for family movie time (the animated, My Dog Tulip) and dinner, we heard a glorious sound pinging against the windows. It was raining...with some sleet mixed in based upon the sounds! None of us wanted to jeapordize our good fortune by saying aloud what we all thought. "Let it pour long enough and hard enough to deter the booms."

We all silently "Amen-d" Roman's request that the Universe protect all creatures tonight, keep them warm and dry, and provide food for the body and soul. Then we invited all of the WDA members from over the Bridge to crowd into the room and enjoy the movie lesson about the depths of the canine heart.

That sounds like a pretty special day to us. Happy New Year, sweet fiends.
