"You know, dad," Opal said as she headed out of the dog door, "I am not really in the mood to go for a car ride OR to visit Dr. Julia. Just go ahead without me."

Twenty minutes of playing chase ended with Opal on the bed, dog door locked down, and My Sparkling Girl throwing sparks with her eyes as Steve wrapped her in her harness, snapped on a lead, and picked her up in his arms. "We're off!" he announced. "And already late," I mumbled.

Opal was not interested in Steve's earlier reminder that she needed semi-annual blood work to test her thyroid nor did she care that it would take only a fewminutes. In fact she wasn't even given an exam room; the tech took her right to the back to draw blood and just like that she was done.

Meanwhile, back at White Dog Ranch, as Diva cried piteously for her missing office partner, aka Steve, Zsofia discovered that dad had forgotten to unlock the dog door and she was trapped outside. Her woos drew Bailey to stand on the inside and sing for her sister to not lose hope, that she would be rescued. And ALL of the singing made Roman, gated in the kitchen fear HE was missing out on something important so he added a deeper tone to the opera.

Opal and Steve returned. As soon as the front door was opened My Girl bolted into the room and pressed against my side. Steve did not even have to aask; one look toward the dog door and the "so sorrys" began flowing.
