October 2, 2018

White Dog and the others had merely been curious and wanted to sniff before walking away. White Dog's only comment made me slap my palm to my forehead, "You probably should have picked a period when you were in your regular routine, not entertaining guests." I REALLY need to take My Girl to the doctor's office with me as MY advocate. What was done was done.

Bella, unlike the others, got distressed. "That looks horrible momma! Does it hurt? Take it off!" I picked her up in my arms so that she could examine the monitor up close. "No, Baby Girl, it does not hurt and it is under my sleeve so no one will even know it is there. It comes off in two weeks."

In my continuing attempt to keep my diabetes regulated, I agreed to wear a blood sugar monitor for two weeks. It sticks to my arm adhesively and tiny leads constantly measure my blood sugar ups and downs. In two weeks I return and they will download the chip and compare the data against the logs I have been keeping for food and activity. From that we will hopefully adjust my meds to a more effective, even-er, control of the disease. The chip does not interfere in life, as I told Bella, I can hold pups, shower, even give treats.

Bella STILL was not convinced that she should not worry. "How about this, Tiny Dancer?" I offered. "ANY time you feel nervous or want to check on the device I will lift you into my arms to do so...and I promise to tell you if it starts to hurt because then we will BOTH be sure it gets taken off." That and a special "nurse's" treat seemed to calm her down.
