White Dog said, "You and dad have done all that you can; the rest must just play itself out." And with that she declared the evening a family night free of computers, the internet, television; we were to cocoon while focusing on positive things and being together.
We chose a movie, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (Oct. 2018), and settled together with a bowl of popcorn to watch. The story is about a correspondence that begins between Juliet Ashton and members of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, with them sharing their experiences of Nazi Occupied Guernsey. When an idea for a book catches Juliet she goes to visit the island, making lifelong friends and taking life changing steps along the way. It was a comfort food tale of everyday folks and is old-fashioned entertainment, a romantic drama with lovely landscapes and a gentle earnestness. Appropriate for pups of all ages and sensitivities.
"Kind of makes me want to gather us all up and go visit," Bella sighed. WD snuggled closer against my hip, "It is a nice escape from the craziness of our world tonight." Tizenegy wanted to know if Steve could make a SECOND bowl of popcorn...WITH butter. "Don't you just love the clothes," Bailey asked. "Such elegance and style."
When Steve suggested night-night walks at the end of the film he met a little resistance. "But dad, we are all so comfortable! Let's just watch another movie, this time maybe with our regular treats." At his insistence walks were completed, final treats given and the White Dog Army drifted off to dream of running the green rolling landscape of English islands.

That movie night sounds like a great family activity! We can certainly understand why the WDA was a little resistant to going for a walk afterwards. :)
