White Dog had a followup appointment with Dr. Julia this afternoon to check her lungs and the effectiveness of her new medications so I called Jackie first thing. "Zsofia is sounding just like White Dog did, I think this is going to pass through the entire Army. I know you are fullup but could the doctor give Steve when he is in more of the antibiotic and the dosing for Zso? If she wants to see her and we can piggyback her and WD, we would gladly do that, but I am certain it is the same thing."

Jackie took a few notes and said she would call if Dr. Julia wanted Zso to come in. It was not five minutes before Jackie rang. "She wants to see Zsofia," Jackie said. "There is so much of this going around we want to get a sense of how deeply your girl is affected."

"Guess what, Zso? You get to go with White Dog and be her protector!" I told her. Zso strapped on her White Dog Army harness and bodyguarded her sister into the van. "She started singing commands the minute I stopped the car and she had plenty to say to everyone."

Sure enough, Zsofia has a milder version of the pneumonia White Dog has. She was excited that now she has two medications that get slipped into chunks of hot dog at pill time. "I just want pills that need to be hidden," she told our vet. "Not squirty stuff."

Dr. Julia was very pleased when she listened to White Dog's lungs. "She sounds MUCH better," she said. "You can see the improvement in her eyes and body posture. Let's continue antibiotics for another week so this senior lady does not risk relapse." 

Back home, it was hard to convince Bailey, Opal and Roman that Zsofia was not "lucky." "Momma is hoping you are all spared getting sickies. It is not a good way to finagle a couple of extra treats. Remember how unhappy Zso was coughing and gacking. My hope is that all of you get, and stay healthy."
