White Dog asked to go for a car ride with Steve to run a couple of errands. Since both stops were situations where the store brings your order out to you waiting in the car, Steve said he would be delighted for her company.

They were only gone for ten minutes before the WDA began to get nervous. There was a lot of pacing, window watching, and asking for the current time. "Kids," I told them, "dad and White Dog are just doing what they said. It takes time. Dad has a phone if there is a problem or they will be late. You can watch and pace but time won't go any faster than if you just curl up and take a nap."

Roman and Opal staked out the Watching windows; Opal excitedly called out every approaching vehicle and then whimpered when it was not Pumpkin, our van.

Bailey walked a circuit from the office to sniff WD's bed, to where I worked, out the dog door to stand and scan the yard from the deck, back in and around to the living room. Then she repeated.

Only one of the White Dog Army took my advice...and believe me, we knew the instant our adventurers returned.
