Apparently I am not the only one trying very hard to learn the language of the "Lion Dog" mix who is the White Dog Army's newest recruit. Often to me our Diva sounds like a squeaky complainer unhappy with little things like Steve leaving her alone in order to use the bathroom. The others share my confusion.

"I am never sure whether she is challenging me or expressing regret that momma is super cautious and keeps us apart.," Roman said. "And I don't know if  Diva wans to play or is just being bossy," Zsofia added. "So usually I just assume she wants to play, like Sachi did, and I take part in chase and wrestle."

Sibes are easy to understand. Bai and Zso sing out clearly and have a conversation to share their thoughts. White Dogs have lawyerly minds and they give  a well thought out and reasoned presentation including leg taps and tilted heads that one would need to be daft to not "get."

Divas make you guess, each time staring blankly until you hit on the right interpretation which causes a yip of happiness and a waddle/wiggle of approval. Before you hit on the point you are sighed at in shifting dissaproval.  Diva has bridged the communication barrier at the important times...meals, treats, needed potty breaks but mostly for finer points is still rather enigmatic.

We have also seen a brief glimpse at Diva humor aas she lines up with the rest of the Army for veggie samples as I prepare dinner. Last night she charged across the room wagging herself off-balance for the crunchy end of bok choy only to let it drop to the floor after it touched her lips. And then she wanted to repaet the process!

We are not used to tiny relentlessly shrill recruits and Diva is not patient with helping us learn her language. Fortunately Steve is even tempered and soothing enough to be yelled at as he tries again and again to understand. His knowledge shared has moved us all closer to better welcoming our Littlest One.
