There is no task more lovingly manned by the White Dog Army than watching for deliveries. The raucous call to arms the moment a truck stops in front of the house increases into a frenzy when the package is left at the door; and if the driver makes eye-contact while knocking or dealing with handheld electronics, he or she gets the WDA full howling version of Flight of the Valkyrie .
Steve's retrieving the package and bringing inside keeps the excitement ramped until the box cutter reveals a delivery of vitamins... some exotic spice...or new socks. "Oh," they mutter, wandering off, "nothing interesting here, just boring stuff."
Today Steve brought in a box and waved the Army to follow. "I think you might find this is magical. It is from Lisa, Andy and new kitty, Robert." Zso and Diva ploughed through the crowd to be at the very front when the box of special treasures was opened to reveal treats, toys, a handmade lightup surround in Siku's favorite amethyst, and some truly lovely necklaces made of protective stones for momma.
Of course the jerky trats were immediately sampled; boos followed Steve as he then closed the bag and put on top of the fridge with a promise of more...later.
