"Dad," remarked Zsofia, "all of us have really enjoyed having you home with us. We all cuddled together when we were feeling sad. We had our meals together. We supported each other as we figured out how to work through momma leaving us. Do you REALLY need to go back to work?"
Dear ones, I said sadly, I need to return to work for just a little time each day. First, I'll give you breakfast. Then, I'll go to work for 3-4 hours. Think about what you do each day after breakfast. "Well, Zsofia considered, we usually take an after-breakfast nap."
Exactly, sweet girl. You'll close your eyes and, the next thing you know, you'll hear the keys in the front door lock and come running to greet me. I'll be home the rest of the day to work from home, just like I did when momma was with us. We'll all get used to the new normal over time. Remember that momma is watching over all of us whether we're sleeping or awake so you're never alone, even when I'm at work.
"Well, I guess that will be okay," Opal interjected, "but I'll stay awake in the watching chair to make sure that the house stays safe and we're not invaded by cats." That's fair, beautiful Opal. I feel better about going to work with you watching out for the WDA. If there are any cat problems, you can raise the alarm and the entire Army will come to help you. When I arrive home, we'll all have lunch!
