October 30, 2012

White Dog and the rest of the White Dog Army were nowhere to be found. Steve was AWOL as well. Only  Quinn slept soundly next to the bed when I awoke. It had been a night interrupted by many trips to the bathroom as my unhappy system fought to expel some "bug" that had found its way into my digestive tract.

I reached down and lightly touched TOWD's back and he shifted closer. I heard the back door open and then White Dog came charging into the room and jumped on the bed. She was followed into the room by Puff and YoYoMa who did an expert dance to avoid stepping on his sleeping sibling. Steve stuck his head in. He had Oso in his arms.

"How are you feeling," he asked. "Very empty. What time is it?" "We let you sleep in; you needed it," he replied as Nuka walked in looking like she, too, had just awakened.

"We went to the grocery and got some breakfast goodies and were out in the Studio doing some cleanup." The White Ones all nodded to attest that under their supervision things were progressing smoothly even though I slept.

This Thursday our friend Rebecca with Quinn's white standard poodle girlfriend, Daisy, her equally beautiful sister, Maple, and Becca's special friend Josh are coming to visit from California...and to Walk with us in our second Walk to End Cancer in Edgewood (and our last for this year). At this reminder, Quinn perked his head up and let it be known that he, too, wanted inspection rights before the Studio was declared ready for guests.

It will be grand to see our friends (whom we met through this blog) and spend time with an extended White Dog Army. But there was no time to linger as the WDA cracked the whip and herded us into the kitchen for breakfast. I am not sure if they were intent on getting work done or could just wait no longer for still warm apple fritters, bacon, and creamy-rich coffee.

There is much to be done but YoYoMa and Oso agree with me that NOTHING happens until after that first sip of coffee. (They are my morning coffee buddies and insist on a drink of my 1/3 cream, 2/3 coffee eye opener every day)! But then there is much to do...

Dear WDA and Family,

Thank you so much for your extremely beautiful and touching tribute to my Suka on your blog yesterday. I was overcome with emotion reading your lovely, heartfelt words. You truly captured much of what I have been feeling and thinking.

Suka always wished he could meet the WDA in person and we were hoping that such a trip would be happening by early next year. Suka just adored and loved all the fluffy White Dogs and never tired of reading about their adventures and daily thoughts on life.

Thank you for being such true, good friends to my Suka. Your friendship was very dear to us, and will remain so with me.

Peace,

K (Suka's human)
