January 28, 2013

White Dog looked at the calendar next to the computer and said, "Almost time to turn the page. Wonder which photo Lisa has for February?" My Little White One was right, the first month of the new year has dashed past our lives.

It is a Monday of odds-and-ends here at White Dog Ranch. We didn't get to the grocery over the weekend so today's meals have been cobbled from the pantry and way back in the freezer. This is Steve's last week of his first MBA class, which means a final project is demanded. (No break, next week he moves smoothly into Class 2).

The auction to help Sallie and her family with the pet bills resulting from every pet owner's worst nightmare: being away from home with your precious one and having a cataclysmic medical emergency is still running and could sure use every one's support. There are some wonderful items priced to be steals, but the auction ends February 4th...so lend a hand now.

Speaking of February 4th, just one week from today, that day is a very important one to the White Dog Army. February 4th is World Cancer Day, with a focus on ending the myths and misinformation that fear and shame continue to feed. We ask you proudly display this badge and join us next week in unmasking the cowardly monster that takes so many unfairly.

While we wait (admittedly impatiently) to see the results of Saturday's White Dog Army photoshoot (which we will of course, share). We would like to FINALLY unveil the photos taken of White Dog, Oso, Dragon, Sen-ge, and us humans at the close of 2012 for the NO H8 Campaign to promote acceptance of diversity and an end to bullying. WD had, in the eight weeks of editing, forgotten our adventure to Santa Fe to add our voices to thousands of others across the country.
Steve and Oso; White Dog and I brought the white purity of love to the campaign to end hate.

After our photo, this woman approached us and explained that she did not know she could bring her dog and how she so loved the White Dogs. She asked Oso if he would stand-in for her own babies and he kindly agreed.
It was a rainy and dreary day today which called for lots of naps and cuddles. Tomorrow will hopefully bring back the warmth and sun. May your week be filled with time to cuddle, time to nap, time to root in the mud...and always, time to love. Happy Monday.
