White Dog and Taiko had been chosen to be the White Dog Army ambassadors at today's Epilepsy Awareness Walk at the Park. Paws To People were volunteers at this event, helping the Epilepsy Support & Education Services group spread the word about the real facts of the disease. Our joined efforts expanded the message to include awareness of canine epilepsy...and for the first time, as a result of our campaigning, dogs were being allowed to participate in honor of the four-leggeds who are challenged by this disease.

The Walk registration began at nine but we had to be there by seven am to help with the set up of banners, tables, signs, etc. The rest of the White Dog Army, for once, was NOT rushing to the door. "Do us proud," they mumbled and curled more tightly back into their dreams.

White Dog had her harness on and was impatiently pacing. "Where is that brother of mine," she huffed and ran off to look for Taiko. She found him tucked deeply in his corner nearly hidden by the chair and bookcase. He was soundly sleeping and snoring quietly. Steve stopped her from stepping on him and barking. "Let's just let him sleep. You can handle this mission on your own and we will be back just about the time the WDA starts to get hungry."

How wonderful that your campaigning bore this amazing fruit. Way to go, White Dog. We know for a fact that you did the WDA -- and all of us -- proud. :)
