White Dog and The White Dog Army took advantage of the extra time Steve had at home today to celebrate World Environment Day. After an early morning trip to the Park which included time to cleanup some litter and leave love letters on the trees, the WDA helped Michael pull weeds in the yard.

We know that many say that weeds are just flowers unloved but here in the desert those foxtails and goatheads come with barbed seeds that are not safe for pet paws, ears, or furs. Michael had to wear gloves just to protect his hands as he worked. While the WDA supervised, the energy of the sun created bright red hibiscus flower tea, which we all enjoyed with LOTS of ice and cookies as a midmorning break.

Before Steve headed off to his symposium, the Army oversaw a deep watering of our sheltering trees and making sure the containers were filled so that birds and other wild things would be sure to have a drink. As the sun set we enjoyed the color show and gave thanks for the beautiful gifts our world provides on a daily basis.

What did you do to celebrate World Environment Day?
