White Dog saw Nilla trying to convince her old legs to jump up on the couch. Nilla leaps like Air Jordan for meals but doesn't have the "oomph" any more to throw herself up onto the bed or the couch. Nils looked up at the top of the cushion, backed up a few steps, braced...and then turned to lie down on the carpet.
WD gave Steve "the look."
"What is it Nilla Bean?" he asked her. "Need a little help up to get comfy?" He gently lifted her up onto the seat.
She looked unsure for a moment, like it might be a trick of some kind. Then she flashed one of her dazzling smiles and settled against the pillow.
