White Dog said, "it is cool in the house, but it is a psychological thing when the thermometer passes one hundred. We need to do chilling for the pack just to keep morale up."

"I guess the napping thing is getting old, eh?" I responded. "We could watch dog sledding documentaries." She looked at me like I had lost my mind.

"How about we make pupcicles using chicken broth and blueberries? We could put duck jerky into the little cups like handles and freeze them. Then dad could put them in our bowls sort of like dessert after dinner. "

She and I went out to the kitchen to make a batch and put them in the freezer.

Supper ended, Steve upturned a frozen cup into each of the WDA's bowls and popped out the frozen treat. To add to the mood, he put George Winston's album, Winter, on to play.

As White Dog put it, "just what the doctor ordered." All we heard from the rest of the Army were the sounds of slurping.
