White Dog's smile held a touch of sadness. "Well, Bella started out her life with us hiding," she said. "Maybe we should not be surprised at her new call to play hide-and-seek."
"I know she feels safe in tight spaces, White Dog," I agreed, "but I am concerned she will get into a spot she cannot get out of."
Zsofia laughed, "That is what dad is for" and she gestured down the hall where Steve was on hands and knees extracting his grateful Tiny Dancer. The look of absolute trust and love on Bella's face as she pressed against Steve's chest was the best "Thanks, Dad" ever.
