What they say about a trauma being worse the day after is true. I am weak and sore and, in general, not very good company. My family, however, is amazing. Steve has taken on a whole new set of responsibilities in shifting me around, tending to yet more hoses and attempting to raise my spirits. The white dog army is there for me around the clock as each takes turns being my personal attendant and comforter. Diva and Opal have brought their favorite toys to me in an attempt to lighten my mood. Zsofia and Bailey barely leave me room for my legs when they want to cuddle. Lilly has rested her head right next to my Kleenex, offering for me to fall into those blue eyes instead of nabbing the white tissue treat.

But most amazing had been Roman who has set up non-stop vigilance at the foot of my bed. Every so often, he rises (I know because I can see his tail at the top of the bed) to come over and lick my hand.

I'm in very good hands and I'm very grateful for my excellent care. However, I feel very foolish and worry that I can't get my right leg to respond as I will it to.
